Who is The Friendly Flosser

Jennifer Nowotney founded The Friendly Flosser to provide dental hygiene services in school-based and healthcare settings.  Our primary focus is on children 0-6 years of age.  Our goal is to introduce children to a positive dental experience, offer oral hygiene education to caregivers, along with implementing early preventative measures.

Jennifer has over 20 years experience as a dental hygienist, along with specialized training as an RDHAP (Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice).  This allows her to work in specialized settings, other than a traditional dental office, and without the supervision of a dentist.

Utilizing the latest portable dental equipment, we can provide onsite dental hygiene care and education, all in the comfort of familiar settings.  Combining knowledge, experience, and a passion to serve, The Friendly Flosser can bring the dental hygiene experience to you!

Why The Need?

Dental disease is the most common chronic illness for children in the United States.
Dental disease is preventable, yet dental care is the most common unmet health need in children.
The American Dental Association and the World Health Organization have voiced their support for school-based dental care.
Barriers to receiving oral health services include provider shortages, lack of insurance and transportation issues.

Each year, over 51 million school hours are lost due to poor oral health.

3 out of every 5 children are affected by tooth decay.

Why The Need
How It Works

how it works

scheduling

We schedule a date for the dental team to visit your school. Prior to your scheduled visit date we will provide you with the student consent forms.

consent

Your teachers hand the forms out to each student. Students take them home to be completed and signed by their parent or guardian, then bring them back to the school.

collect

Your site will collect the consent forms, confirm forms are complete and signed. We will pick-up consent forms prior to the scheduled visit date.

visit

On the day of the visit, the dental team sets up an in-school “dental office for the day” and provides the necessary dental care.  Every child seen gets a dental “report card” to take home and a FREE TOOTHBRUSH.
